The format for this tournament was as
follows; 3 pools of players play everyone else in there
pool. The top to winning records automatically advance to
the finals. The second best records goes to a wild card
pool. All others went to the last chance pool. The
winner of the last chance pool would go on to the Wildcard
pool. Then the top two in the wild card pool would advance to
the finals. Here are
the results;
Pool 1
Taiyon really did well for himself in
the preliminaries. He bested Dan, and Judgment Day.
This would send Judgment Day to the Wildcard while Dan and
Taiyon would go to the finals. David would go to the last

Final Pool
In the finals we had the best of
three. Normally this would take forever, but with two TVs it
wasn't so bad.

Dre Vs. Dan
Its always hard to know who to
save for last. I usually can save the two best records and
have them battle it out last. In this case, (as happens on
occasion) The first and second place finishers faced each
other in the first round. Unfortunately with two TVs in
action I wasn't able to keep tabs beyond the fact that Dre took
the first game, Dan won the second and Dre beat him in the
third.
Judgment Day Vs. Dayne
Dayne came it to this tournament
with a new strategy. Using a ratio 4 E Honda. This
worked well against the computer, but didn't do so well in the
tournament. While we was able to get JD down to his last character,
(A ratio two M. Bison) but he wasn't left with much life,
and JD was able to take the first game. After that Dayne
went with a ratio 1 Honda and a ratio 3 Blanka. This worked much
better for Dayne and in a very close game Dayne was able to tie
it up at one game each. Then in the third game Dayne did
well with Blanka again ripping through JD's charactors.
Then with M. Bison JD came out in a fury. It looked as
though JD was going to take it but Dayne was some how able to
hold him off in a very very close finish. Dayne
would win the game and the match.
Jake Vs. Matt C.
(AKA your MOM match)
Half way through the first game
Jake put on his infamous sunglasses. Then the mom jokes
started to come out of both sides. Matt was able to take
the first game. Latter as the mom jokes continued Matt was
able to finish Jake off, much like his mom.... (oh did I say
that.)
Judgment Day Vs. Nate
In the first game JD did well
with M. Bison to take the first game. In the second game
Nate did quite well with his Rolento to get the win. In
the third game, Nate's ratio 2 Chun-Li seemed to serve him
well, but it came down to JD M. Bison, and Nate Guile. JD
would get the win.
Jake Vs. Dre
Jake became so frutrated with the
match that he put his arcade stick on the ground and turned his
back to the TV as he began to blindly mash on the buttons.
Jake would loose in two strait games.
Judgment Day Vs. Matt C
These games always came down to
their ratio 2 M. Bison Vs. ratio 2 Sagat. Matt would take
the first game if a very close game. In the third JD would
tie it up. In the third game they would put on quite a
show as it came right down to the wire. Anyone could have
walked away the winner, but in the end Judgment Day won in an
incredible match.
Dayne Vs. Matt C
This time E Honda did well for
Dayne. He softened up Matt for his ratio 3 Blanka.
It came down to Blanka (3) Vs. Sagat (2). Time was running
out for them and with only 4 seconds left Dayne was able to get
the win. Then in another nail biter Matt was able to
tie it up. Then Dayne gave up on E. Honda and went with a
ratio 4 Blanka. Matt would do fairly well getting Dayne
down to a little over a 1/4 bar left for his ratio 2 Sagat. It
really looked like Matt was going to take it. (even wrote
it down before it ended.) But then suddenly Dayne came
charging back. He not only got Sagat down but now had a
lead. It was now anyone's game, and momentum clearly in
Dayne's favor. I thought I had somehow cured Matt by prematurely
giving him the win on paper. But then Matt was able
to turn it back around and get the win in what was a great
match.
Jake Vs. Taiyon
With almost all of there matches
completed and with no wins for either. Jake and Taiyon
thought they would go for a draw and let time expire with ratio
4 players. But as time ran down. They both tried to
go for a last minute win. Jake would be the one to land
the biggest blow and as time ran out Jake would be the
winner. Then the next game the played for real and
Taiyon was able to tie things up. Then for the fourth game
Jake would loose to a ratio 4 Dan, as Taiyon would pick up the
insulting win.
There were a lot of great matches
but in the end only Dre was able to go undefeated to win the
tournament. Dan captured second this would give him
enough points to get second place in the pentathlon by only four
points over Judgment Day. The winner of the
Pentathlon.... well Ali wasn't here again, but it didn't matter
as no one would have been able to score over 20 points.
Congrats to Dre for a great performance. I hope to see you
all come back next year and play in more games in the Capcom
Pentathlon 4.
Here is a final look at the
results for Capcom
Pentathlon 3
